仙台教会の歴史

仙台教会の伝道は、長沼三千夫牧師によって始められました。

1957年8月4日（日）、現在地の近くの家を借り、六畳間で第1回の礼拝が行われました。出席者は牧師家族と小泉あや子姉でした。

2年後の1959年、宮町にその拠点を移し、1962年12月に現在の教会堂および牧師館が完成し、福音に立つ教会としてその歩みを進めて参りました。

仙台教会は喜びにあふれた教会です。どうぞ、つづけておいでください。

仙台教会は本年40周年を迎えました。仙台教会は10月26日（日）宗教改革記念日に記念礼拝を行います。また、40周年記念誌の発行を予定しています。このページでは、一足早く、記念誌の内容を連載いたします。

第一回は”仙台教会の歩み”より、仙台教会の開拓当初の長沼三千夫牧師およびリビングストン宣教師時代の出来事を綴ってみました。

1957年8月4日
　　　現在地の近くの家を借り六畳の部屋で第一回の礼拝が行われた。出席者は牧師家族と小泉あや子姉であった。

1958年10月　
　　　集会場所を仙台基督教女子青年会のホールを借り移転礼拝を行った。

1959年11月　
　　　現在地の土地・建物を購入

1959年12月
　　　この建物を修繕してクリスマス礼拝より集会を始める。新しい伝道所は八畳二間であった>

1961年12月
　　　J.リビングストン先生宣教師として着任

1962年12月
　　　現在地に教会堂・牧師館完成
1963年
　　　塩釜集会開始。J.リビングストン先生が加わり毎週日曜日主日礼拝がもたれた。

1966年
　　　古川集会開始。月一回商工会議所の一室を借り夜聖書研究と祈祷会が持たれた。
　　　長沼牧師リビングストン先生含め5名位の出席でした。

長沼先生は月刊紙「るうてる」の中で仙台教会のことを次のように記しております。

"最初に教会の集りに出席した人は学生達であり彼等の殆どが他地方出身の学生で在学中は四年間熱心に教会に出席しても卒業と同時に当地を去るものが殆どであり毎年同じ事が繰り返され、新しい人が残る教会となった。"

しかし成人信徒の定着を基礎とする教会形成を目指していることを強調していた。そして先生は幾多の困難の中で私達に伝えたい原点はパウロのことばだったように思える。

 Sendai church became 40 years old this year. We have a memorial worship in October 26. And we have a plan of the memorial issue. In this page the contents of memorial issue will be published serially.

In this number, the history of early days will be showed. The age of pastor Michio Naganuma and missionary J. Livingston.

August 4 1957
　　　Naganuma families and Ayako Koizumi attended the first worship in the small tatami-room of a house for rent near our present chapel.

October 1958
　　　The meeting place was changed from Miyamachi to the hall of Sendai Girls Christians Association.

November 1959
　　　The present estate and chapel were acquired.

December 1959
　　　This chapel was repaired. And the first worship with this chapel was in Christmas. This new chapel consists of two tatami-rooms.

December 1961
　　　J.Livingston arrived at his post as a missionary.

December 1962
　　　Present Chapel and the pastor's house were built.

　　　The new meeting at Siogama-shi started. Worship was kept every Sunday by J.Livingston.

1966
　　　The new meeting at Furukawa-shi started. The meetings of stuidying bible and praying were kept once a month at a chamber of commerce and industry. Naganuma and J.Livingston and a few more attended.


Pastor Naganuma writes for monthly magazine "Lutheran" on Sendai Church as follows.

"People who attended worship in eraly days were students came from the country. They attended worship eagerly while in college. But almost left Sendai with their graduation. The same repeated every year and only new were left."
But pastor Naganuma usually emphasized that he hopes to establish the church with grownup believer. And the basics that he want to give in many suffering is the words of Paul.
